Understanding Responsive Design and its Benefits — Day by day a lot of people are using mobile devices for browsing, such as smartphone for a lot of tasks in their everyday life. This work that had been done by personal computers (desktop and laptop), now most of them can also be used using mobile devices

Seeing a phenomenon like this, it’s an issue if your website can only be opened on a desktop and not vice versa. This day and age, websites should be accessible through personal computers, and mobile devices, and the solution for that problem is something called a responsive design. Responsive design makes it possible for a website to adjust its sizes with according to where they’re viewed.

Understanding Responsive Design

To put it simply, Responsive Design is a web design or application that can adjust its layout from various types of gadgets. Responsive Design also commonly called as Mobile Friendly because they fit with not only personal computers but also handheld devices such as tablets, or a smartphone.

A Web or Application that’s responsive will make the process of user interacting with the website easier, ranging from the sizes of buttons, to how big or small a text is. A non-responsive website usually has no differences when it’s opened from a PC or from smartphones.

In short, a responsive design will function automatically to simplify the layout according to the size of your phone or tablet, doing this will rearrange lots of its layout, making it suitable for smaller screen and giving the user more accessibility.

Benefits of Responsive Design

  1. A Good User Experience

A web design or application that’s responsive can give the user better experience. As an example, the user will no longer need to zoom in or out for text and images on the screen. This makes it easier and more comfortable to read and browse your site.

There are statistics saying why user experience is very important. According to Google Think Insight for Mobile, every time someone opens a website on mobile and becomes frustrated being unable to see the content, there are 61% chance of them leaving the website entirely to look for another website. But, every time someone have a good experience visiting a website, there are 67% chance of them buying the products in said website or read the content in it.

2. Very Well-loved by Google

Why does Google choose lean more toward responsive design? Because it’s more efficient for its bots to explore your sites and continue to index it into their search engine. The reason for that is because with a responsive design, all sites only have the same one URL and HTML each for all devices.

3. Increases Conversion Rate

A web design or application that is responsive have the ability to raise conversion rates that’s very desirable for every mobile user in the world. Why? Because if a website doesn’t work properly on a mobile device, then surely the users cannot be converted.

So, if a visitor has to do a lot of steps to finish converting with your sites, do you think that they’ll continue finishing said conversion? The chances of that are very slim.
